The Coding Metrix Pathology Curriculum is a comprehensive training program designed to prepare users to accurately assign procedure and diagnosis codes for pathology services.
The curriculum begins with an overview course that will familiarize users with the different types of pathology services and how a pathologist works. Subsequent courses cover special diagnosis coding guidelines for pathology services, with specific attention paid to who provides the reportable diagnoses, reporting neoplasms and coding for Pap smears. The Surgical Pathology course addresses coding for surgical specimen examination, frozen sections, staining and other related services. The Cytopathology course focuses on coding rules for both gynecological and non-gynecological cytopathology. Finally, the Other Pathology Services course covers coding rules for other services such as referred slides, bone marrow analysis, etc.
All courses use multi-media learning tools, including state-of-the-art graphics, examples, multiple-choice exercises, and actual case studies to reinforce the user’s learning experience and ensure information retention.
